Kaizer Chiefs have repeatedly enquired about former Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo’s services as they aim to further strengthen their team.
Mayo is currently plying his trade at CR Belouizdad in Algeria whom he joined at the beginning of the season from the Citizens.
It's no secret that Chiefs have held a keen interest in the attacker for quite some time.
His agent Basia Michaels even confirmed on Metro FM that Amakhosi failed to secure the player’s services at the eleventh after he put pen to paper with Belouizdad.
Now, according to KickOff.com, Chiefs have spoken to Khanyisa’s father, Patrick Mayo who also played for the club, enquiring about his son’s availability.

‘CHIEFS CALLED ME LAST WEEK’
“Yes, Kaizer Chiefs called me last week to find out if I would give Khanyisa my blessing to join the club,” confirmed the man who also turned out for the likes of Bush Bucks and SuperSport United.
Mayo adds that he explained to the reigning Nedbank Cup champions that it was not his decision to make.
“It is Khanyisa who will decide whether he wants to join them.
“I told Chiefs I would be happy to see Khanyisa at the club because that would be a historic moment. He would be following in his father's footsteps, and that would make me a proud father.
“But I did make it clear to Chiefs that if they are genuinely interested, they should speak to his current club and buy him, as his contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.”
