PSL Fixtures: Sundowns, Pirates and Chiefs learn opening day opponents

Mamelodi Sundowns will open their PSL title campaign against Chippa United following the 2025-26 fixture list that is due to be released by the PSL.

Chippa will host reigning champions Sundowns at Buffalo City Stadium on August 9 from 15:00 in a televised match as the season kicks off with six matches on the opening day.

Meanwhile, on the same day, AmaZulu FC will face newly-promoted Orbit College at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Polokwane City clash with Magesi at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, and Richards Bay host Marumo Gallants at the uMhlanthuze Sports Complex, all of them kicking off at 15:00.

Later that day, Orlando Pirates will welcome Sekhukhune United to Orlando Stadium at 17:30, followed by the day's final fixture between Siwelele FC and Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium from 20:00.

Who will Chiefs face on matchday 1?

On Sunday August 10, action will begin with TS Galaxy taking on Motsepe Foundation Championship winners Durban City, led by four-time PSL winning coach Gavin Hunt, at Mbombela Stadium at 15:00.

The opening round concludes with a highly-anticipated match between Stellenbosch and Kaizer Chiefs at Athlone Stadium at 17:00, promising a thrilling start to the season for fans in the Mother City.

Sundowns are looking to make it an unprecedented nine PSL titles in a row while Pirates will hope to challenge again after making a host of new signings to strengthen coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team.

Chiefs will also seek an improvement in fortunes after ninth place last season with coach Nasreddine Nabi set to be under immense pressure after he was let off the hook last term.
