Kaizer Chiefs land tricky Nedbank Cup Round of 32 draw as Orlando Pirates get lower league opposition

Kaizer Chiefs have landed a tricky Nedbank Cup Round of 32 opponent following the draw conducted on Thursday.

Chiefs, who are looking to defend their title, will take on Stellenbosch FC in the Round of 32, a tricky tie that could see them knocked out at the first time of asking, if they are not up to scratch.

The draw is a repeat of last season’s quarter-final which Chiefs won 3-1 on their way to the title. However, Stellies have already knocked Chiefs out of one cup competition this season, having eliminated the Glamour Boys from the Carling Knockout.

Chiefs will therefore be looking to avenge that loss while also hoping to start their title defence on a high.

Who are Pirates and Sundowns playing?

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates, who lost last season’s final to Chiefs, will take on lower league opposition in the form of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. Pirates will take on the third-tier side, starting their campaign away.

Mamelodi Sundowns also have third tier opposition in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns with the opening fixture played away. Sundowns were beaten in last season’s semi-final by Kaizer Chiefs and will be hoping to go one better this time.

There are a number of fixtures pitting PSL sides against each other with Durban City hosting Chippa United, Polokwane City welcoming AmaZulu FC, Golden Arrows playing at home to Orbit College, Marumo Gallants visiting TS Galaxy as Siwelele FC welcome Richards Bay,

Dates for the Round of 32 fixtures are yet to be confirmed but matches will kick off in February.
