Latest news about Kaizer Chiefs, in the last 24 hours, including the race to sign Tshegofatso Mabasa, Amakhosi legend blames Bafana Bafana’s negative start, and more.

Chiefs targeting Mabasa!

Following Tshegofatso Mabasa’s exit from Orlando Pirates, FARPost has learnt that rivals Kaizer Chiefs have the ball firmly in their court to sign the highly-rated striker.

With Mabasa currently a free agent and weighing options, FARPost understands that the representatives of the attacker are in talks with Chiefs, and the decision now lies with the club to conclude the deal.

Furthermore, this publication understands that Mabasa is keen on listening to local offers first before considering the attention from outside the country, as he has also attracted interest from North Africa.

Should the deal go over the line, Mabasa will reunite with his former Pirates teammates Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, who are the latest names to cross the ship.

Khune points out where Bafana went wrong

Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumleng Khune has questioned Hugo Broos’ tactics in their opening match defeat co-hosts Mexico.

“It’s not the result we were expecting and the performance, of course. The guys could’ve done better. But I think coach Hugo Broos started negatively, the way we started playing, the formation,” Khune told SABC1.

“Towards the dying minutes of the game when he put in Makgopa, I think it’s exactly how we should’ve started because we were playing with two strikers, a pacy striker and a tall striker.

“If we had started with Makgopa, those flick-ons, I think Rayners would’ve had chances to run behind the defense and keep the goalkeeper busy, because the keeper only made that one safe from Mbokazi in the first half and the rest watching.”
