Chiefs legend determined to end AmaZulu’s trophy drought
AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has weighed in on the club’s trophy ambitions for next season, as his future with the team seems secure.
Usuthu last won a major trophy in 1992, when they defeated Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in the Coca-Cola Cup final.
“Look, I think as a team we are growing in stature. Every team would want to win a cup. I believe we had the opportunity to go all the way to the semi-finals and finals of Nedbank Cup,” said Zwane as quouted by iDiski Times.
“We did not capitalise on that. Durban City managed to win it. So already they’ve put each and every team in KZN now to at least fight for cups and win something next season.
“So, it’s a good competition. And like any other coach as well, I’m a very ambitious coach. I play to win. I’m a winner myself; that’s my belief. Because I don’t think I would have been here if I was not a winner. So, I want to win every game.

“And because the game is a teacher, we make a lot of mistakes and try to rectify them rather than focus on crucifying. We try to look for solutions and try to improve ourselves. So, we will try our level best. So yeah, we want to win something in the future as a club.”
Ex-Pirates coach targets Chiefs star
Reports circulating in Morocco suggest that Raja Club Athletic coach Fadlu Davids is plotting a move for a Kaizer Chiefs star.
According to Moroccan outlet Le Site Info, Davids has submitted a formal request to the club’s board to sign Kaizer Chiefs’ Congolese international Glody Lilepo.
The 44-year-old has identified Lilepo’s attacking and tactical versatility as one of the key factors in his pursuit, with the forward capable of filling in multiple roles in attack, which Davids believes his side lacks this season.
According to Transfermarkt, Lilepo boasts a market value of €700,000 (R13.5 million) and has scored nine goals and added four assists in 37 games across all competitions this season.

The 28-year-old Congolese international’s good form this season was not enough for him to receive a recall to the national team.
Fine Lilepo!
Kaizer Chiefs have been urged to take further action with financial implications on Glody Makabi Lilepo for what he did on Saturday after scoring the winner.
“If Chiefs really want their players to be serious about discipline and standards, then Lilepo must be fined for his conduct,” ex-Bafana international who played in Europe told KickOff.
“It shouldn’t matter that the goal Lilepo scored won them the game.
“He deserves to be handed a heavy monetary fine for his amateur behaviour of removing his shirt in celebration when he already had a yellow card.

“Clubs in Europe will act if their player does such as a way of setting the standards high.
“I have seen players in Europe fined for such.”
