Lilepo sparks exit speculation

Kaizer Chiefs forward Glody Lilepo has sparked speculation about his future following a cryptic Instagram post.

On the eve of Chiefs’ final game of the season, Lilepo posted a “bye-by” message on his Instagram story which was accompanied by a South African flag and a love emoji, leading to speculation that he may be leaving the club.

Lilepo followed it up by deleting all posts on his Instagram account, leaving his followers confused.

The Congolese winger has been at Chiefs since joining in January 2025, playing 56 games, scoring 15 goals and weighing in with five assists, including nine and four assists in 37 games in the just-concluded campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has lauded young goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba after he became the youngster ever to play in the top flight.

Mazhamba was handed a start in the final match of the season against Chippa United when Chiefs lost 1-0, but he set a new record, becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalkeeper at 18-years, 11-months and 23-days, surpassing Khune’s record and the legend was in awe of the new kid on the block.

“Record Breaking, well deserved brother,” Khune posted on social media.

Seven Kaizer Chiefs players are facing uncertain futures at the club as their contracts enter the final month. Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Dillan Solomons, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Pule Mmodi will see their contracts expire on June 30 and there are no guarantees over fresh terms.

Sirino, Bvuma, Solomons, Mayo and Mthethwa have seen little action in the just-concluded season which could work against them while Kwinika could get an extension as he is seen as a key player. Opinion is, however, divided over Mmodi.

Meanwhile, Mayo, whose one-year loan deal will come to an end, has been frustrated by injuries and managed just one league goal which might not be enough to make the move permanent.
