Latest about Kaizer Chiefs in the last 24 hours, including Brandon Truter raving about Chippa’s win, Amakhosi to Europe again, reality check for Cedric Kaze, and more.

Truter happy with coachable Chippa after win over Chiefs

Chippa United coach Brandon Truter gave praises to the players for being coachable after securing their top-flight status with a win over Kaizer Chiefs.

In his first game for Chippa, Truter led his side to a 1-0 win over Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium on the final day of the season.

Truter said that when he arrived at the club he noticed that the team lacked a bit of structure which affected their performance in other games during the season.

“There’s not much of a season, it’s one game, so yeah, 100%, so well done, but coming in to Chippa and your first game is Kaizer Chief, it’s always a daunting aspect that you are facing. But coming into Chippa I knew where the club was, and also understanding that the run series was on, we had to be mindful that it’s a very formidable team in a giant, South African football that we are facing,” Truter told the media.

“But upon arrival at Chippa and also watching them over a couple of games and being a football student and always in touch with PSL football, I knew what was what I had to change. It is a team that lacked a bit of structure, technical understanding, and once you get that right, it becomes a formidable team, because we look at a record, it was always goals, even in the 5-1, 3-1, there’s a one and I think that’s what pointed me to change a few things in this structure and the offensive side,” he concluded.

Chiefs’ pre-season in the Netherlands or Germany?

Kaizer Chiefs are again set to have their pre-season in Europe, with Germany or the Netherlands the destination, according to iDiski Times.

Despite Amakhosi parting-ways with Cedrick Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef at the end of their contracts this coming June, Chiefs is already preparing for the new season even though they haven’t appointed a new coach.

Last season, Chiefs spent three weeks in the Netherlands for their pre-season and that proved to be vital for them, as they finished the season in the top three for the first time in two seasons.

They will have a long season where they will be participating in the MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup, Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup and Nedbank Cup in 2026/27.

Reality check for Kaze

Outgoing Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has been handed a reality check about the nature of jobs awaiting him.

Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef have both ended their reign as co-coaches having arrived as assistants along with Nasreddine Nabi before taking over after the Tunisian Belgian left.

Cedric must not even think about working full-time in Burundi. With the way football is run in Burundi, he shouldn’t want to come and coach here. To coach the national team full-time, he will lose his credibility,” coach Aime Kitenge, said as quoted by Kick Off.

“Here in Burundi, they can pay him as the head coach, but the environment will be very hard for him to cope seeing he wants to come with a professional approach. He will need to change a lot of things, and they might not understand him along the way, so better assist from a distance like he did during the recent camp.

“I say this with my experience as a Burundian citizen and a former national team player and goalkeeper coach. I think he should get a club in South Africa, especially one like Durban City, who are a stable and professional club and have engaged him before.

“It is normal that there will be teams keen on him based on the good work that he has done at Chiefs. He is way too good a coach to be lost to South African football just like that. With Burundi, he can continue coming during FIFA calendar dates on a part-time basis,” Kitenge concluded.
