Kaizer Chiefs have finally landed one of their long-term targets following the arrival of Bafana Bafana forward Khanyisa Mayo.
Chiefs have acted quickly to bring in the player who they were close to signing in 2024 before he moved to Algerian club CR Belouizdad.
Mayo admitted Chiefs were close to signing him and he desired to join the club last year but the Glamour Boys’ offer arrived late after the Algerian side had agreed terms with his then club Cape Town City.
Mayo fell out of favour at Belouizdad

However, after one season with Belouizdad, Mayo has found himself surplus to requirements after coach Sead Ramovic stated categorially that he was not in his plans and failed to register him in the squad for all domestic and continental competitions.
That left Mayo in limbo but with the South African transfer window still open, Chiefs have moved with speed and handed him a deal, allowing him to realise his dreams of playing for the club.
‘Amakhosi family, our new signing has a message for you. We are looking forward to welcoming him home soon,” Chiefs posted on social media while confirming the signing for Mayo.
How will Nabi juggle his attacking options?
“We just couldn’t wait to let you know that Khanyisa Mayo is Khosified!!! Welcome Khosi, we look forward to revealing that special jersey number….look out for the reveal coming soon.”
Mayo is the 11th signing for Chiefs in this window and adds to what already looks like a stacked-up attack with coach Nasreddine Nabi now with plenty of options upfront.
The 27-year-old made 41 appearances in all competitions in his debut season in Algeria, scoring six goals while providing one assist, but that has been deemed insufficient by CR Belouizdad.
