Kaizer Chiefs’ R4 million offer for Stellenbosch star rejected

Stellenbosch FC have reportedly rejected a R4 million offer from Kaizer Chiefs for midfielder Sihle Nduli.

Chiefs are in the market for reinforcements and the defensive midfielder is considered an experienced player that can help coach Nasreddine Nabi’s side, who have struggled for consistency, this season.

However, a first offer of R4 million to lure him away from the Cape Winelands has been turned down by Stellies who are believed to be holding out for R7 million to release one of their key players.

“Despite keeping quiet for some time on the matter, Chiefs haven’t given up on Nduli and that is why they tabled an offer to Stellenbosch FC of what is believed to be around R4 million which Stellies rejected and put up a counter offer of R7 million,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“At the moment, it is not yet clear whether Chiefs will negotiate on that R7 million or whether they are giving up on Nduli but Stellenbosch are looking at that amount of R7 million and they are willing to sell him.”

It has also emerged that Nduli’s contract runs out in June 2025, which could work in Chiefs’ favour, and that is why his current club are looking to cash in before he becomes a free agent in six months’ time.

“No, Stellies don’t have a problem selling him right now as they want to make some money while they still can,” a second source told Soccer Laduma.

Nduli’s situation could favour Chiefs

“Let me tell you, Nduli’s contract is coming to an end in June and it is the only chance they have to either sell him or renew his contract but since there is interest from Chiefs, they want to capitalise on that. So, let’s hope with negotiations going on, something could happen.”

Nduli joined Stellenbosch from TS Galaxy in 2022 and has become a key figure for Steve Barker’s men who are currently fourth on the PSL table.

The 29-year-old midfielder has made 21 appearances for Stellies in all competitions this season.
