Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has opened up about the “frustrating” injury that sidelined him for the entire second half of last season. His injury in March dealt a major blow to Amakhosi, interrupting what had been a spectacular ascent for the 23-year-old.
Dortley's impact was undeniable. From his emergence at Cape Town Spurs, he quickly became a pivotal figure. For Bafana Bafana, he showcased remarkable consistency, playing every single AFCON 2025 qualifier and not missing a national team game since his debut last September.
His absence forced Chiefs to reshuffle, with Given Msimango stepping in alongside Inacio Miguel, although Msimango also later picked up a groin injury.
In news that will undoubtedly excite the Chiefs fanbase, Dortley is now nearing the completion of his rehabilitation. This positive update suggests that one of their key defensive assets is close to making a full return, offering significant hope for the upcoming season.

DORTLEY – ‘IT’S NOT EASY’
“I was tackled from the side,” said Dortley as quoted by KickOff.com.
“This is my first serious injury that needed an operation. One has to be strong mentally, as you want to play, but you can't. It's not easy, but I do know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
Speaking on the backing he’s been getting, “I have a lot of support from my family.”
“My girlfriend, my father, my mother, my brother… They are all playing a huge role in my road to full recovery.
“That's how the team is. If one is injured, we can all feel the loss of a player. We are one!”
