Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Pirates interested in Bafana Bafana Amakhosi-linked keeper

Orlando Pirates have entered the race for the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner, who has been on Kaizer Chiefs‘ radar.

The Sekhukhune United custodian has been doing well in the Premier Soccer League, something that attracted the attention of South Africa coach Hugo Broos. The custodian came in for Ronwen Williams in the second half of the FIFA international friendly against Panama, a match Mzansi lost 2-1.

In the ongoing campaign, the 28-year-old has played 19 games across all competitions and managed nine clean sheets in the process.

Amakhosi were interested in Leaner to strengthen their goalkeeping department owing to the struggles by the likes of Fiacre Ntwari and Bruce Bvuma. However, no sold offer was submitted to Sekhukhune United.

“Orlando Pirates have joined the race for the signature of the talented Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner to beef up their squad for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season,” FARPost reported.

“The Buccaneers are already preparing for the next season after identifying Leaner as a transfer target for the July 2026 transfer window.

“With the current campaign nearing its end, FARPost has learned that the Sea Robbers are keen on signing Learner, who was previously linked to Kaizer Chiefs,” the publication added.

Sipho Chaien has been the only dependable keeper for the Sea Robbers, with Melusi Buthelezi not convincing when given an opportunity to prove his worth for the Soweto giants.
