Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Have Stellenbosch conceded star is joining Amakhosi?

Kaizer Chiefs haven’t brought in many new faces in the ongoing transfer window ahead of the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League.

So far, the Glamour Boys have signed Thabo Moloisane(Stellenbosch), Renaldo Leaner, and Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko (Azam FC). They have also parted ways with Aden McCarthy (Sabah, Azerbaijan), George Matlou & Happy Mashiane, Tashreeq Morris (Durban City), and Gaston Sirino.

Talented Stellenbosch winger Langelighle Phili has been heavily linked with a move to the Glamour Boys. Amakhosi are desperate to sign him to fill the void that might be left by the Democratic Republic of Congo international Glody Lilepo, who is reportedly on his way out.

Chiefs are willing to part with two players as well as cash to land their target before the transfer window closes.

Has Hunt hinted Phili is leaving?

Ahead of this weekend’s Premier Soccer League outing, Stellies coach Gavin Hunt was asked about the 21-year-old, and his response raised eyebrows.

“Obviously you don’t want to lose the player. He’s one of the hottest properties in South African football, right now. You don’t want to lose him,” Hunt told the media.

“But I mean circumstances, contractual circumstances and all those type of things come into play. It’s been a lot of media speculation and I’m sure the next day or two we’ll hear some more,” he added.

Chiefs, Stellies reach Phili agreement?

Meanwhile, Chiefs have reportedly made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of Stellenbosch FC winger Langelihle Phili, with the two clubs having reached an agreement in principle for the player’s transfer.

According to SABC, negotiations have accelerated this week after Chiefs presented an improved offer. Previous discussions, which included proposals for player swaps and a cash component, had stalled.

Initial talks reportedly involved striker Ashley du Preez and at least one other player moving to Stellenbosch. However, the Cape Winelands club was hesitant to agree to a local transfer, favouring a move abroad for Phili or letting him see out his contract.

Although the deal is not yet official, the latest progress makes Kaizer Chiefs the clear frontrunners to secure one of the DStv Premiership’s most promising attacking talents.
