Kaizer Chiefs ready for ‘dangerous’ AmaZulu as midfielder reveals target ahead of CAF CC return

Kaizer Chiefs secured the CAF Confederation Cup spot last weekend with a 2-0 win over rivals Sekhukhune United in the Premier Soccer League outing.

The victory over Babina Noko took the Glamour Boys to 51 points from 28 outings, seven and nine points respectively more than AmaZulu and Sekhukhune, who are fourth and fifth in the log. Finishing third is a relief for the club, especially following their failure to qualify for the MTN8 spot in the last two years.

One of the players who delivered was Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who completed the game for the first time in a while.

The 25-year-old was delighted to have helped Chiefs to get three vital points courtesy of goals from Tashreeq Morris and Mfundo Vilakazi, who found the back of the net late into the game.

Chiefs ready for dangerous AmaZulu

On Saturday, the Glamour Boys will be at the Moses Mabhida Stadium against Arthur Zwane-led Usuthu. Ngcobo explains why it will not be a walk in the park for his team.

“It wasn’t an easy game. It was tough, but we worked really hard to get the victory. I feel like I had a decent game, and it was good to complete 90 minutes for the first time in a while, but there are aspects I want to improve on. Overall, I was quite happy, and we take it and move forward,” ‘Mshini’ recalled as explained by the club’s website.

“We are doing our usual build-up, preparing our game-plan with the coaches. We will have to work hard because it will not be an easy game. We know how dangerous AmaZulu can be with Coach Arthur (Zwane) so we are expecting a tough match and we are ready to fight for the win,” he stated regarding this weekend’s game.

The CAF CC achievement

Ngcobo and the entire Amakhosi team are delighted to have achieved a target of securing the CAF Confederation Cup ticket for the second time running.

“It’s a great feeling to know that we are going to play in CAF competition again next season. It is something we wanted to achieve as a team and we are happy to have done it with two games to spare. I am excited for it. It will be difficult but we will benefit from the experience,” he assured.

“I consider this to be a good season, not great because at Kaizer Chiefs the expectations are higher, but after the last few years I think we turned a corner and are heading in the right direction. We will take what we have learned and try to improve for next season,” Ngcobo concluded.
