Kaizer Chiefs sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., outlined the club's ambitions for the next six months, emphasizing a renewed focus on ending their decade-long trophy drought.
Amakhosi, under the guidance of new head coach Nasreddine Nabi, are eager to break their trophy-less streak, having last tasted success in the 2024/25 season when they clinched both the league title and the MTN8 under the leadership of Stuart Baxter.
This season, they have faced early elimination from the Carling Knockout Cup, bowing out in the quarterfinals to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite this setback, Motaung expressed a sense of optimism, stating, “There's a glimmer of hope” based on the team's recent performances.
He revealed that the club is now targeting success in the Nedbank Cup while simultaneously striving to secure a place in the CAF competitions.

KAIZER JR ON CHIEFS TARGETS
“We have the Nedbank Cup to play for this season. We also want to be back in Africa next season and we know what that takes, and where we need to finish with the right respect for our fans this year,” said Motaung in an interview with iDiski Times.
“And on the field there’s a glimmer of light because when it comes to attacking play, the team has set the benchmark with most chances created. We are a very offensive force this year.
“There have been a lot of positive strides in meeting what would be required to make this a special year. We know of course the disappointments of not competing in the MTN8 and not progressing further in the Carling Knockout.
“But I think we are very much focused on what this most important part of the season has to offer. And a supporter, a fan and everybody working at this institution will obviously say we would like to win a cup and obviously we are working as hard as we can to make sure that we are able to meet that.”
