Kaze Applauds Amakhosi Stars, Opens Up on Chiefs Major Concern

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze was full of praise for the Amakhosi players' nerves of steel after his side clawed their way past their CAF Confederation Cup opponents via a tense penalty shootout against Kabuscorp.

He further noted that their composure in the pressure cooker was the ultimate difference-maker.

Striker Glody Lilepo emerged as the night's main character, scoring the vital goal that forced the shootout as the match had ended 1-1 on aggregate.

However, he also exemplified the team's ongoing struggles, spurning a golden chance just before his successful strike.

“We tried [after scoring the opener to get more] we have opportunities to score the second goal but unfortunately, we didn’t and had to go to penalties, and I have to give credit to the boys,” Kaze said.

“The calmness under huge pressure and now everyone is happy, we go into the second round, we’re happy for the club and the fans too.”

KAZE ON CHIEFS’ GOAL-SCORING ISSUES

On goal-scoring problems he said, “I would say that situations are different, the previous games, the last pass, the last movement before the last pass wasn’t good,” he explained.

“But today the chances and the last passes were there. The only thing we need to do is keep working, The good things is that going into the next game we have more players, more options that will be available, which we hope will help as well.”
