Laffor reveals ‘only coach’ that can win Sundowns the Champions League

Published on by

Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, Antony Laffor, has weighed in with a striking and unequivocal claim regarding the club's pursuit of continental glory.

The ex-Liberian international has boldly declared that there is “only one coach”who possesses the unique ability to deliver the coveted CAF Champions League trophy to Masandawana in the upcoming season.

Laffor's assertion stems from a place of deep personal experience and firsthand knowledge of what it takes to conquer Africa.

Laffor himself was an integral part of the historic Sundowns squad that achieved the club's maiden Champions League title in 2016.

That monumental triumph was orchestrated under the strategic genius and motivational prowess of Pitso Mosimane, a coach whose legacy at Chloorkop remains unparalleled in the continental arena.

During that triumphant 2016 campaign, Laffor played a pivotal role, consistently delivering when it mattered most. He notably scored two crucial goals in seven matches throughout the competition.

These weren't just any goals; one came in the high-stakes semi-final clash against Zesco United, demonstrating his composure under pressure, and the other was netted in the epic final against Egyptian giants Zamalek, solidifying his status as a big-game player.

Having tasted continental success and having been directly coached by Mosimane during that glorious period, Laffor's conviction is strong.

He firmly believes that if Mosimane were to be granted the opportunity to return to the helm of the Brazilians, the club would, without a doubt, secure the Champions League title next season.

This endorsement from a former player who understands the intricacies of the competition and the winning formula under Mosimane adds significant weight to the ongoing discussions about Sundowns' future continental ambitions.

“Coach @therealpitsomosimane [Pitso Mosimane] only if you could get a chance to take over our beloved club @sundownsfc [Sundowns] Next season champions league is sure. Let us put football politics aside,” Laffor posted on his Instagram account.
