Mabasa opens up after ‘stuff of realised dreams’ at Pirates

Bafana Bafana striker Tshegofatso Mabasa recently hit 50 goals for his club Orlando Pirates, taking him to the second position of the club’s all-time top scorer.

The record is being held by former club’s forward Benedict Tso Vilakazi who scored 59 goals for the Sea Robbers. No player has ever matches that, only the 29-year-old is close to reaching it.

However, it might be long before he realises his dream as coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has used him sparingly in the ongoing campaign.

He has featured just nine time across all competitions, with his 50th strike coming in the Premier Soccer League assignment against TS Galaxy earlier in the campaign.

Mabasa is happy to have scored those number of goals, and determined to break the record.

Believe, be displined and work harder!

“For me, it really means a lot to have scored 50 goals for Pirates,” the towering forward said in his recent interview with iDiski Times.

“This is a club I grew up supporting and dreaming to play for. So to achieve such a huge milestone is the stuff of realised dreams.

“And it really shows that if you believe, have the discipline to work hard and pray for what you’d like to get, you will achieve it. I hope that this tells the young players out there that their dreams are valid.

“It is very special, and my family is very proud of me, and I know I would not have gotten this far without their undying support. Hopefully, I can continue scoring and get that record,” Mabasa concluded.
