Maela’s message to Orlando Pirates’ new signings

Former Orlando Pirates captain has sent a message of advice to the club’s eight signings ahead of the 2024/25 season.

A new era appears to be dawning at the Buccaneers as the club unveiled a remarkable eight new signings last week, underscoring their aggressive approach to strengthening the squad.

The confirmed arrivals include Yanela Mbuthuma and Nkosikhona Ndaba from Richards Bay FC, alongside Masindi Nemtajela, Tshepang Moremi, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Tshepo Mashiloane, and Sihle Nduli.

This substantial influx of talent followed closely on the heels of another major announcement: the acquisition of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Sipho Mbule, mere days prior.

In a crucial step to integrate these fresh faces, the club orchestrated a comprehensive induction process.

This welcoming initiative was guided by a revered group of Pirates legends, many of whom had served as captains during their playing days, providing invaluable insight and mentorship.

The distinguished former players in attendance included Tebogo Moloi, Happy Jele, Innocent Maela, Lucky Lekgwati, Edward Motale, and Brighton Mhlongo.

Maela subsequently revealed to the club's media what words of wisdom he shared with the Buccaneers' newest recruits.

“To the new players, congratulations,” said Maela.

“Your life now will never be the same. This is a big institution. Now you are representing a lot of people.

“Today, we are here at the players' induction, making sure that the guys feel welcome. We are proud of them. They have made it this far, but this is only the beginning.

“They need to work hard. A club ike ours has all the resources and the structures they need to be successful, but this is only the beginning.”
