Former Orlando Pirates striker Andries Sebola has explained why he feels Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper could be an area of weakness for Bafana Bafana at the World Cup.

“Currently, the most disappointing aspect at Sundowns is Ronwen Williams. It appears his focus has shifted from positioning and work rate to communication, which has declined,” Sebola said as quoted by KickOff.

“This could pose a problem for Bafana Bafana, as his recent performances have not been satisfactory. As evident from the goal scored by Chippa United during last week’s match, better communication between him and teammates, such as Grant Kekana, was expected.”

Mamelodi Sundowns arrive in Tunis early

Mamelodi Sundowns touched down in Tunis earlier on Thursday ready for their CAF Champions League clash against Esperance on Sunday.

Sundowns face the Tunisian giants in the semi-final first leg in Tunis and need to good result to take to the second leg in Pretoria next week.

The two sides have clashed in the last two seasons, Esperance winning 2-0 in the semi-final in 2023-24, before the Brazilians claimed a 1-0 victory in the last eight in 2024-25.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is thrilled to have full-back Thapelo Morena and attacker Arthur Sales back to the team after their recovery from injury as his team fights for CAF Champions League and PSL glory.

“Look, there’s impact when you play so many matches. And if you look at the squad and the bench and the players, you understand that there are very important players that were not here,” said Cardoso as per iDiski Times.

“And important players that just came back. Arthur played the first time today. Morena played the first time today. So it means that the aggression that we’ve been suffering has been having impact on the team. Of course, the fact that other boys raced for the level is very important.”
