While Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to tie coach Miguel Cardoso to a new contract, the Portuguese coach is wanted in North Africa.

According to FARPost, Egyptian giants Al Ahly have placed him on their list of targets as he is one of their alternative options in case they do not land Dutch coach Mark van Bommel, who they are in talks with.

Van Bommel is reportedly asking for a package in excess of $4.5 million which Al Ahly are unwilling to meet and if they do not agree, the Egyptian giants will turn their attention to Cardoso.

RB Leipzig captain Willi Orban was left in awe of Mamelodi Sundowns following the African champions’ come-from-behind 3-1 win over the Bundesliga side at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Friday’s friendly match.

“Like the coach said, it was an unbelievable atmosphere. Tough game, good opponent, really good in possession, really good in positioning,” he told SABC as per KickOff.

“I think congratulations to the win to the Sundowns and also to winning the Champions League, big quality team and I think also a team with a big future.”

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup if they reach the final.

PSG reached the final courtesy of winning the UEFA Champions League on Saturday but to meet the French champions, Sundowns will have to beat the winner between Al-Ahli vs Auckland City in the second round and then defeat the team that will come from a match against Tigres UANL/Toluca vs South American champions in the semi-finals.
