Mamelodi Sundowns can open up a five-point gap over Orlando Pirates and make work more difficult for the Buccaneers in the title race on Sunday.
Sundowns host Polokwane City on Sunday, heading into the match top of the table with 61 points, two more than Pirates, with both sides having played 26 games.
With Pirates playing on Tuesday, Sundowns can put more pressure on Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team by securing maximum points that would take their tally to 64 points, five ahead of the Soweto giants who must win all their remaining games while still hoping for some favours from elsewhere to claim a first title in 14 years.

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Ronwen Williams has opened up on the bitter lessons they learned from their CAF Champions League failure last season.
Sundowns are set to play a second straight final against Moroccan side AS FAR this month and Williams admits they took a lot for granted last term, leading to their loss to Pyramids, something they will not do again.
“You don’t take any team for granted, I mean people looked on paper and stats, last year they thought it would be an easy win for us because we’re not playing against Al Ahly, Esperance…we can’t make the same mistake because we’re playing AS FAR, I don’t know the last time they were in the final but we should not make that mistake again, we learned valuable lessons, we should not think that the job is done before getting the job done,” he told thePitchside podcast.
Why Cardoso is not interested in scoring many goals

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says scoring many goals is not the main goal for him and his team at this point of the season as what matters is the result.
“We made two draws, but before we won 11 matches in a row, no one should forget we broke the record of the league,” he said as per iDiski Times.
“So, we need to be strong and strong, and strong, committed, and play every match with a focus on the result, and the result is always one goal more than the opponent, and that’s what we have to, we can control.”
