Mamelodi Sundowns may have exited the FIFA Club World Cup at the group stage but the good display of some of their players has not gone unnoticed.
Sundowns left the tournament after winning one, drawing another and losing another one, having beaten Ulsan HD 1-0, lost 4-3 to Borussia Dortmund before a goalless draw with Fluminense.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, with Chelsea’s surprise 3-0 thrashing of favourites Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, some individual awards have been given out but there are still others yet to be decided.
Stacked Goal of the Tournament shortlist
The award that is yet to be handed out is for the Goal of the Tournament for which Sundowns playmaker Lucas Ribeiro is among the nominees.
Ribeiro’s brilliant goal against Dortmund, when he made a great solo run, beating two of his markers before scoring, to break the deadlock is among 10 nominated for the Goal of the Tournament.
He is up against the likes of Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, Lionel Messi’s freekick for Inter Miami, Chelsea’s Joao Pedro and Jhon Arias of Fluminense among others.
How can fans vote for Lucas Ribeiro?

Fans can vote for Ribeiro online via Facebook with the 10-man shortlist vote open until July 17 when the winner will be known.
Ribeiro had an impressive tournament as he was the architect of all the good things going forward for Sundowns, including the key pass that saw Iqraam Rayners score the only goal in their win over Ulsan.
His good performances have placed him on the radar of a number of teams with Qatar SC, Turkish giants Trabzonspor, French second tier side Saint-Etienne, Fluminense, who Sundowns played at the Club World Cup, and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, a second-tier club in Brazil, all reported to be interested.
