Kaizer Chiefs skipper Inacio Miguel has warned fans against expecting too much from the team this season, saying the main objective will be just winning matches as they come.
The Glamour Boys ended their decade-long drought last season after winning the Nedbank Cup, thanks to their 2-1 triumph over Orlando Pirates. This season, Amakhosi have started well, winning matches against Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City respectively.
Defending Premier Soccer League champions have collected four, while the Buccaneers have lost their last two PSL outings.
‘We have nothing to do with other team’s result'
The Angola international insists the Soweto giants have to focus on their path and ensure the team delivers.
“We are not focused on the other teams, you know, we are focusing on ourselves and our job, what we can do better,” the 29-year-old opened to the media.
“I think we have nothing to do with the other team’s result. If we don’t focus on ourselves, we can do nothing different from the last season. So personally, I don’t care about the other teams’ results; I care about my team.

“I care about the way that we work and the way that we win that game. That’s the most important for us, focusing on ourselves,” Miguel continued.
‘We will try to bring Chiefs trophies'
“I think the fans of Kaizer Chiefs, more than anything they deserve the truth. They deserve us to be honest. I’m very honest with myself. I have a lot of people that on the streets come and tell me, Miguel, this season we’ll lift another trophy. Listen, I think the most important thing is that they have to understand that we have to go game by game,” the newly appointed Chiefs captain continued.
“We can’t create expectations, because then from the expectation it will come the disappointment, I don’t want disappointments for the fans.
“So, what I can promise to the fans is nothing but hard work, every game, every training. We will be there, and we’ll try to do our best to bring the trophies that they want. But don’t ask me for trophies, ask me to win games, ask me to go game by game. If we win game by game, we will probably achieve our goals. It will be easy, but as I said, I don’t want to disappoint them,”.

“So, the only thing that I can promise to them is that the group is very connected. It’s very together on this mission that is to of course bring the glory days back at Kaizer Chiefs. But it’s impossible to do it if we don’t go game by game and to be honest with ourselves, that is a big challenge.
“It’s a very competitive league and nothing but hard work to achieve our goals,” he concluded
The next assignment for Chiefs will be on Tuesday in the Premier Soccer League match against Richards Bay that will be staged at the FNB Stadium.
