Mngqithi expresses worry ahead of Carling Cup final with Magesi

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has voiced his concerns regarding the condition of the pitch at the Free State Toyota Stadium.

On Sunday, Masandawana secured a 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in the semifinal held at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium, thereby earning a spot in the final.

They are set to take on against Magesi FC, who advanced by defeating Richards Bay FC with a score of 1-0 on Saturday at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Mngqithi is of the opinion that Dr. Molemela Stadium offers a superior playing surface compared to Free State Stadium, which was highlighted in announcements made last week.

WHY MNGQITHI IS WORRIED ABOUT FREE STATE STADIUM

“It’s always nice to play in Bloemfontein because of the atmosphere you get,” Mngqithi said after the match.

“It’s just I’m not sure of the quality of the pitch at the venue where the final will be played. Because I think this pitch [at Dr Molemela] was much better, based on the history I have of these stadiums.

“Otherwise I like this environment because you are guaranteed supporters. Whoever you are playing against, Celtic supporters will always come. I really like the way they have embraced Marumo in the city.”
