Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has shared the latest information regarding the injuries of Erwin Saavedra, Kegan Johannes, and Arthur Sales.
Kegan Johannes, who moved to Sundowns from SuperSport United at the start of the season, has not yet had the opportunity to debut for the team due to his injury.
Erwin Saavedra has participated in one match, while Arthur Sales has featured in three outings.
Mngqithi indicated that Johannes experienced a setback during training, which delayed his full recovery. Nevertheless, he is anticipated to return to full training next week.
“Kegan is very close, we are hoping for him to start full training probably let’s say next week but he is very close,” said Mngqithi.
“There are a lot of activities that have taken place, the bios I think they have given him to the conditioning guys now and he is very close.
“He had a setback, he was already far ahead and he had a setback in training that took him backwards a little bit.
“He even played one friendly against Sekhukhune if I’m not mistaken but unfortunately after that he had a setback and had to start back again.”
WHEN SALES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION
Sales is also approaching a return, as Mngqithi has suggested that he may be available for selection in the upcoming week.
“He [Arthur Sales] is also very close,” added Mngqithi.
“He’s back in full training, he’s training with the team, he should be back, if not this weekend, probably next weekend he might be back.
“But it will depend on the competition within the group because he’s coming from an injury and other players are in top form at the moment”
MNGQITHI ON SAAVEDRA
“Saavedra is training fully, he was very close to make the squad for this match,” revealed Mngqithi.
“But he’s looking very good in training.”
