Mohau Nkota begins work at Saudi club as he trains alongside ex-Liverpool star

Former Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota has started work with his new team Al-Ettifaq after his big-money move to the Saudi Pro League club.

Nkota’s transfer was confirmed early this week as he left Pirates pre-season camp in Spain to link up with his new team and after completing the formalities of his deal, which include a three-year contract, he has now started training with them.

The 20-year-old forward was pictured in pre-season training with his new team-mates, who include former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, the Ettifaq captain.

Nkota was pictured in the gym and on the pitch being taken through his paces and he also had some time to sign autographs for supporters.

Nkota to play high-profile pre-season matches

The Kimberley-born winger will be part of the squad that will feature in four high-profile pre-season matches with Ettifaq, starting against Portuguese second tier side Portimonense on Tuesday, July 22, before they meet Farense seven days later.

Ettifaq will then face United Arab Emirates side Al-Jazira before they complete their pre-season tour of Portugal against Spanish side Cadiz FC on Wednesday, August 6.

The club, who finished seventh in the 18-team Saudi Pro League last season, are seeking an improvement in fortunes and Nkota will be hoping to hit the ground running despite having just one senior top flight campaign under his belt.

Nkota made 39 appearances for Pirates last season and managed seven goals as well as five assists which were enough to convince Ettifaq to sign him.
