The former Al Ahly coach shares the contribution ex-Bafana Bafana coach had in his football life.

Celebrated South African coach Pitso Mosimane insists Orlando Pirates legend the late Stanley Tshabalala played a crucial role in making him successful in the game.

Bra Stan, or Screamer – as he is famously known in Mzansi, passed away on Thursday at the age of 75. The former attacker succumbed to injuries suffered during a robbery in his house on March 23, 2024.

Three armed men invaded his residence and made away with valuables, at the same time inflicting the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player with fatal injuries.

Mosimane insists Tshabalala convinced his parents to let him venture into football, which has seen the now 59-year-old rise to be one of the prominent people not only in Mzansi but the continent at large.

“When I heard of the sad news of Bra Stan’s passing I felt a rush of emotions; amongst all the sadness, my heart was filled with gratitude,” the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach posted on his social media account.

“My football talent was spotted by Bra Stan and coach Jomo Sono. They convinced my father to allow me to play professional football and I know I would not be where I am if they had not believed in me.

“My condolences to the Tshabalala family, we have lost a legend.”

Screamer was among the Kaizer Chiefs' founders which is one of the clubs in Africa with a massive fan base.

He later moved to Masandawana where he earned his nickname “Screamer.”  He is remembered for being the first South Africa coach, in 1992, when the country was reinstated to the world of football after being locked out owing to Apartheid.

He has also served at Orlando Pirates as the team's Technical Director.
