Ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Masry, the club’s Football Manager Bobby Motaung has made it clear that there are no margins for error.
Chiefs host the Egyptian club at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon (15:00) and can boost their chances of reaching the quarter-final with a home win.
The Glamour Boys have seven points from four matches, same as second-placed Zamalek, who are fancied to beat already eliminated Zambian side ZESCO United, while Al Masry have eight.

A win for Chiefs would take their tally to 10 and within touching distance of a place in the last eight but it is a tough task given the Egyptian side are top of the group and beat them 2-1on matchday one.
However, after exiting the Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup, this looks like the trophy Chiefs have a realistic chance of winning and Motaung has not hidden the club’s desires, piling more pressure on coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef as well as the players.
“It’s a Cup final for us on Sunday,” Motaung told FARPost. “We need to qualify and we need to be positive. We have been doing well so far up until the loss on Wednesday [Nedbank Cup]. So we have to regain our confidence and bounce back and be positive.”

“For us, it’s very important. We want to go to the final of this Cup [Confederation Cup]. We have this Cup to challenge for, and we have the league to challenge for,” added the Chiefs boss.
Chiefs are coming from a disappointing result after suffering a Round of 32 elimination from the Nedbank Cup, following a 2-1 loss to Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday.
The Soweto giants had won three straight games since the turn of the year, without conceding, until they stumbled against Stellies, but there is hope that they can get back to winning ways when they host Al Masry.
