Nabi concedes Chiefs have underperformed but still chases Caf slot – ‘We should’ve done better’

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has conceded the Glamour Boys have not achieved what they should by this time of the season.

The Tunisian was brought in to help rebuild Amakhosi after an embarrassing 10th-place finish in the 2023/24 edition. Currently, they have collected 25 points in the Premier Soccer League from the 17 games which puts them sixth in the log.

Amakhosi have gone a decade without winning silverware and seemingly, their only realistic chance of ending the run is by securing the Nedbank Cup. On Saturday, they are set to play Chippa United in the Round of 16, a game that will be played at the FNB Stadium.

Ahead of the game, Nabi has given his honest analysis about the performance of the team and what they should have achieved.

Chiefs should be having more points

“In terms of results, we should have done better. We feel there are points that were in our hands but we dropped them. We should have won more points at this stage because there were some games that were in our control and we should have done better to get those three points,” he told the media.

“So, in terms of points we should be having more than we are having right now. Overall, we believe that going to the end of the season, we are in the right space and with the right ingredients to do something. In the majority of the games, I chose to play my model game to correspond with the DNA of Kaizer Chiefs where we are offensive. But I don’t have all the material for this type of football, I don’t have

The tactician believes his team can still qualify for Cup competitions, “We will push for maximum finish and try to qualify for Caf [competitions]; it is not easy but I want to put this in the heads of the players, for them to know they have the capacity and confidence,” Nabi concluded.
