Nabi delighted as Chiefs’ new striker finally arrives at Naturena

Kaizer Chiefs have finally welcomed their new striker Khanyisa Mayo at the club after the player linked up with his new team-mates.

Mayo sealed a deal with Chiefs on September 5 after he became surplus to requirements at Algerian club CR Belouizdad where coach Sead Ramovic failed to register him in the squad for this season.

That left him without an option but to find a new club and with most transfer windows shut, the PSL became an attractive destination, with Chiefs luring him after missing out on his signature last year.

The forward signed a one-year loan deal with Chiefs and he will look to make an impact and hopefully make the deal permanent at a club that he admitted previously that he would love to play for.

Kaizer Jr and Nabi thrilled with Mayo’s arrival

Mayo was welcomed by Chiefs’ Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr when he arrived at their Naturena base on Friday before meeting coach Nasreddine Nabi and the rest of the squad who were in training.

“Khanyisa Mayo Arrives at the Village. Welcome back to the Kaizer Chiefs Village! A lot has changed since you were last here with your dad,” Chiefs posted on social media.

Mayo is the 11th signing for Chiefs in this window and adds to what already looks like a stacked-up attack with coach Nabi now with plenty of options upfront.

The 27-year-old former Cape Town City star made 41 appearances in all competitions in his debut season in Algeria, scoring six goals while providing one assist, but that has been deemed insufficient by CR Belouizdad.
