Nabi discloses why Kaizer Chiefs fans will be smiling soon

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is convinced that the good times are returning to the club soon.

Chiefs fans have endured pain in the last 10 years, having won their last league title in 2015, but got some relief when they won the Nedbank Cup last season although that is still not considered the biggest.

Nabi had seen his side struggle for consistency as they finished ninth to miss out on the top eight for a second successive season and fans have had little confidence in the team returning to the glory days in the near future.

However, Nabi is promising a change in fortunes soon as he believes his players have now gotten used to his philosophy after one year together.

What is giving coach Nabi confidence?

“Last season, we asked for patience because we wanted to introduce new ideas of playing, and during our rebuild, we managed to win one of the most prestigious cups in South African football,” Nabi told SABC in reference to the Nedbank Cup win.

“We will be better than last season. We have improved a lot in our build-up phase, but we have more work to do to score more goals and to become more consistent.”

In a bid to improve the results, Chiefs have backed Nabi with six new signings so far after the arrival of striker Flavio Silva, midfielders Ethan Chislett and Siphesihle Ndlovu as well as defenders Nkanyiso Shinga, Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane.

The club is also in the market for further reinforcements but it appears the six who arrived are the ones who will be among the players that Nabi will rely on in their season-opening game against Stellenbosch FC on Sunday.
