Who said Chiefs players are not good? Nabi claims he was misquoted!

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been talking about getting quality players to help him realise his targets at the club.

The Tunisian tactician joined the Glamour Boys from the Botola Pro League, AS FAR Rabat, at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. In his debut, he signed 10 players in the two windows, hoping they would help him achieve his objectives.

However, the Soweto giants struggled for consistency, especially in the Premier Soccer League, where they finished ninth. Nevertheless, they won the Nedbank Cup to end their decade-long trophy drought.

During that period, Nabi has been complaining about the players at his disposal, claiming he is struggling to deliver with them.

‘I want to clarify that…'

The former Young African SC tactician has now claimed he just meant that he is lacking those who can fit into his system, and not that he doesn't have good players at Naturena.

“What I said last season, maybe was a little bit misunderstood – I wanted to emphasize that I was looking for profiles that can fit in my game model, but not that I didn’t have good players. I just wanted to clarify that,” he said during the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League launch.

“Secondly, we are heading into the new season with new players. The management has tried their best to get players, and we give them time, and we will see in the future if we have made good decisions, depending on how they will fit in the team and the game model,” he concluded.

Chiefs start their PSL campaign on Sunday with a tricky game against Stellenbosch who finished third last season.
