‘This is the problem’ – Nabi identifies what Chiefs must sort out

Published on by Joel Oliver

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi feels his team’s biggest problem is converting chances after watching them waste their opportunities in their 2-0 loss to Polokwane City.

Chiefs had chances falling to Yusuf Maart, Mfundo Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalala and Tebogo Potsane but they failed to convert while Oswin Appollis and Simon Ramabu utilised their opportunities to hand Rise and Shine the win.

It is a situation that left Nabi disappointed as he believes his team is the best in the league when it comes to chance creation but taking them is their Achilles heel.

“Polokwane created two opportunities and it’s two goals,” Nabi told SuperSport TV. “Kaizer Chiefs created 265 opportunities, and we don’t [convert]. This is football; this is the problem for Kaizer Chiefs to score.”

“I think we’re the best team in the PSL to create [scoring] opportunities. We don’t have another solution, only to continue to work seriously.”

Nabi had earlier refused to criticise his players after the loss, choosing to look at the positives, as he feels they are on the right track despite their inconsistencies.

Chiefs missed an opportunity to move to fifth place on the table following the defeat that left them in ninth place on 11 points, 10 behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I have confidence in my players, and I have confidence in the future. We’re in the right direction; the owners know what we want,” Nabi added.

“We’re clear: I’ve confidence in my staff and myself. I don’t worry. Kaizer Chiefs will come back. I’m sure 200 percent.”

Amakhosi will play away to TS Galaxy in their next league match on December 16.
