Nabi rues football ‘accident’ in Chiefs’ loss against Sekhukhune in the Premier Soccer League

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United in the Premier Soccer League game played on Tuesday night at the FNB Stadium.

Prior to the game, Amakhosi had not conceded a goal in the initial five games played, where they had collected four wins and a draw. However, Bradley Grobler's brace and Thabang Monare's strike were enough to undo their hosts, whose only goal came courtesy of Flavio Silva.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi conceded that the Glamour Boys made many mistakes that led to the defeat. He has since urged the players to focus on the forthcoming CAF Confederation Cup game coming this weekend, on Saturday, against Angolan outfit Kabuscorp.

It is vital for the Soweto giants to get a result in the first leg to stand a chance of advancing to the second preliminary round.

We need to push players to forget about Sekhukhune

“It’s true that it’s not the result that we wanted, but we made so many mistakes that led to goals, especially long balls,” he opened up in a post-match interview.

“The season’s still long, today we’d say that it’s an accident. We need to bring ourselves together to push for the next game because it’s gonna be a knockout game for two games. That’s a different approach. We really need to get into the first game really, really well, and work very hard, and push the players to forget about [Tuesday's loss] and concentrate on the next game.

“This football, sometimes you have an accident, sometimes you lose, but I think we need not panic, it’s an accident. We are only starting the season,” Nabi concluded.

Babina Noko now lead the Premier Soccer League table with 16 points from six matches, while the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have two points less. Chiefs are third with 13 points from six matches as well.
