Nabi voices frustration after Chiefs fail to make superiority count

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed his frustration at his team’s inability to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the PSL on Wednesday.

Chiefs played out a goalless draw with Sundowns at FNB Stadium and had a number of opportunities but did not make them count.

The Glamour Boys were the brighter of the two sides with Ronwen Williams forced into key saves as Sundowns proved difficult to beat and Nabi is saddened by his team’s failure to win at a sold-out FNB Stadium.

What frustrated the Chiefs coach?

“It is my game number four because I was not here but I continued to work with my brothers. I am frustrated because we believe we did enough to get three points, especially in the second half, we had opportunities that we could not convert,” Nabi told SABC.

“We would have loved to give those amazing fans the three points but unfortunately, we did not and we will work hard and make sure we end up in the right way.”

Nabi will be delighted to learn that Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso acknowledged his team escaped with a point from the FNB Stadium.

Cardoso happy with Sundowns’ fight

“We had a wonderful first half, the team understood how to play such games. It is not how you play but how you give yourself to the fight and if we did not fight the way we did, it would be very difficult to get points here,” Cardoso said on SABC after the game.

“We want to win every match but we have to understand every moment and I was pretty happy the way the boys understood the game. As I said before, from here, we want to grow, we want to find more assistance throughout the games.”

Chiefs remain unbeaten so far this season and have also kept four straight clean sheets, the only PSL team yet to concede so far, as they are second on the table, only on goal difference, having accumulated 10 points, same as Sekhukhune United.
