Nedbank Cup: Here is our best Chiefs, Pirates combo! Who made it?

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are set for another Soweto Derby on Saturday in the Nedbank Cup final that will be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

It is going to be a massive game for the Soweto giants; Bucs want to win the competition for the third time in a row. The Glamour Boys haven't won any silverware for the last 10 years, explaining the hunger they have to end the unwanted run.

Have a look at our combined XI ahead of the massive game this weekend. We will go with a 3-5-2 formation.

The Buccaneers custodian is the best when compared to the Amakhosi goalkeepers.

His consistency has given him the starting berth in our combined XI.

Center-Back: Mbekezeli Mbokazi – Orlando Pirates

At just 19, the teenager has been phenomenal for the Sea Robbers regardless of the magnitude of the game.

He was on target in the quarter-final against SuperSport United underlining his threat from set pieces.

The Angola international is fit again to be considered by coach Nasreddine Nabi after a spell in the sidelines owing to an injury.

He has three goals for his club in the almost-ending competition.

The experienced 29-year-old is available for selection after serving his two-match suspension.

He has been vital for Bucs in their run to the final.

Is there anyone else better than the Namibia international in this position? The veteran, versatile attacker has proved over and over again that age is just a number.

Right Wing-Back: Dillan Solomons – Kaizer Chiefs

Solomons has endured a torrid time in the sidelines owing to injuries, but it seems the dark days are over.

He is currently one of the most in-form players in South Africa.

Central Midfielder: Makhehleni Makhaula – Orlando Pirates

Who can omit the ever-reliable Bucs' defensive midfielder from his team? He is our man to protect the defenders.

Makhaula occasionally advances during set-pieces, and has been a threat in aerial balls.

Central Midfielder: Thabo Cele – Kaizer Chiefs

This is another player who has been nursing injuries but is expected to play his part on Saturday after fully recovering.

Prior to his injury, he was literally running Amakhosi's midfield.

Attacking Midfielder: Relebohile Mofokeng – Orlando Pirates

Mofokeng has been a thorn in the number 10 role owing to his dribbling skill and eye for goal.

He will surely be aiming at helping Bucs to successfully defend their title.

Forward: Glody Lilepo – Kaizer Chiefs

As seen in the most recent Premier Soccer League derby, Lilepo has what it takes to be the focal point.

The Congolese has an eye for goal and is full of surprises.

Forward: Tshegofatso Mabasa – Orlando Pirates

Well, it was a tough one getting Mabasa over Mohau Nkota, but surely, how can you leave out a striker who has scored four goals in the competition this season?
