Departing Orlando Pirates attacker Mohau Nkota has opened up on leaving the club for Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq.

Nkota finds himself on the cusp of a significant career move, one that he admits will be incredibly difficult despite the exciting prospect it presents.

The Buccaneers recently confirmed the 20-year-old's impending transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, where he's set to sign a three-year deal, with move subject to personal terms and a successful medical examination.

Nkota's departure marks the end of a whirlwind single season with the Pirates' first team, having quickly ascended from their esteemed development ranks. In his inaugural professional year, he made a notable impact, featuring in 39 matches across all competitions.

During this period, the talented winger showcased his goal-scoring prowess, netting seven goals in total – three in the domestic Betway Premiership and an impressive four in the prestigious CAF Champions League.

His impending move represents a new chapter, but also a poignant farewell to the club that nurtured his early career.

‘MOVING FROM THIS CLUB IS NOT EASY’

“I think moving from this club for me it’s not easy, because I grew up here,” said Nkota as quoted by iDiski Times.

“And I learned a lot of stuff from the team. So, for me it was to get to the higher stage and experience more and expose myself.”

Nkota revealed his deep sense of fulfillment regarding his transfer, noting that it makes him feel particularly special to be the first youngest South African player to embark on a career in the Saudi League.

“For me, I feel so special,” added the Bafana international.

“And I don’t think for me there’s pressure on me to go there and work. Just go there, to live the life, work and be the person I am, just do what I’ve been doing and I’m also happy for the move to Saudi as the youngest player.”
