Orlando Pirates have made a surprise decision regarding the future of Monnapule Saleng, who has been frozen out of the squad since late last year.
Saleng has not played for Pirates in the PSL since November 2024, while his last appearance for the club was in a CAF Champions League match against Al Ahly last December, with speculation all over regarding his future at the club.
The winger’s issues have never been addressed with former Pirates coach Jose Riveiro shrugging off the question all the time while there were claims that he is unhappy with his current contract.

Now, with Riveiro gone and Abdeslam Ouaddou in the hot seat, there was hope that Saleng would get a new lease of life but that looks off the table as per the latest reports.
What have Pirates decided over Saleng?
According to SABC, Pirates have decided to send Saleng out on loan to his former side Orbit College to kick start his career in what is a shocking decision regarding the player who was crowned PSL’s finest in 2022-23.
Orbit College secured PSL promotion after edging out Cape Town City in the promotion-relegation playoff last month and will get a massive boost if the loan move is completed.

Saleng and Orbit College are not strange bedfellows as the winger launched his career at the club before moving to Free State Stars, where he spent four impressive years, before Pirates snapped him up in 2021.
Overall, he has played 70 games and scored 25 goals, adding 17 assists, during his four-year stay at Pirates, among them five goals in 13 games last term, before he was frozen out of the squad for reasons yet to be known.
