Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune is calling for the protection of Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng from unnecessary pressure.

Mofokeng has been in scintillating form for Pirates, scoring nine goals in his last 10 games, including five in the last two matches, and Khune is in awe of the forward but feels it would be wrong to place a lot of expectations on his young shoulders.

“We need him. We need his creativity, his energy, his fearlessness. But we also need to manage him properly. We can’t burn him out. We can’t put too much pressure on his shoulders. He’s still young. He’s still learning,” Khune said as per Soccer Laduma.

Free-scoring Orlando Pirates could be set to set a new club record when it comes to goals scored in a single campaign.

Pirates, who have netted 11 times in the last two games, after a 6-0 thumping of TS Galaxy and 5-0 destruction of Golden Arrows, already have 45 goals from 23 matches but with seven games remaining, they could beat the record of 52 set in 2004-05.

That season, Pirates, under coach Costa Papic, finished second behind Kaizer Chiefs, losing the title on the final day, but they set a club record of goals scored which has not been beaten to date with the best being 46 goals in 2014-15 which could tumble on Friday when the Buccaneers face Richards Bay.

As Orlando Pirates prepare to face Richards Bay in a PSL clash on Friday evening, the Natal Rich Boyz are warning that the free-scoring Buccaneers will have a hard time.

Pirates are the highest scorers in the league with 45 goals so far and 11 of them have come from their last two games, a cause for worry for Richards Bay, but coach Papi Zothwane is having none of it.

“For us, every time we play at home, it is not easy to beat us. They should not come here thinking they will win easily. It is going to be a tough game, and we will be ready,” he said as quoted by iDiski Times.
