Pirates told to forget about PSL

Kaizer Chiefs legend Vusi Lamola has given his prediction of where the Betway Premiership title will end up and opened up on why Mamelodi Sundowns have dominated the league for eight years in a row.

After title-chasing Orlando Pirates dropped points against Richards Bay, there was a growing feeling that Sundowns have become favourites to win the Premiership for the ninth consecutive season.

“Seemingly, Sundowns is going to defend this title again, which is not good for our football. It gives one the impression that it’s a one-horse race,” Lamola predicted, speaking to Soccer Laduma.

“Even if (Pirates) give them a run, the bottom line is that they will end up on the second spot. The way things are going, I may be wrong but my prediction is that they are going to defend the title again.”

Learn from Chiefs striker! Mbuthuma told

Orlando Pirates legend Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has suggested what striker Yanela Mbuthuma has to learn from Kaizer Chiefs forward Flavio Silva.

“I like what coach Ouaddou did, to say ‘I cannot keep on changing the striking force’, to stick with Mbuthuma, here’s the thing, that’s my opinion, Mbuthuma is key in the final third, remember all these teams are playing with four defenders,” Vilakazi explained on omniaudioafrica YouTube Channel.

“One needs to pick and one has to cover and there’s a space and it allows the wingers to come into the pockets. So he creates spaces for his teammates to go in and score. The reason why Mbuthuma plays is because he’s the one making the team create chances.

“You look at his runs into the box, two centre-backs follow him, then the midfielders come into the spaces, that’s where they get the goals. The only (downside) I would say is that sometimes he needs to be greedy when he gets into that box, sometimes force your way, the way Silva (Kaizer Chiefs striker) did (against Magesi), force your way to turn and take a shot, (otherwise) there’s nothing else,” Vilakazi suggested.

Tririsk Soweto Derby suspension

Orlando Pirates trio Nkosinathi Sibisi, Andre de Jong and Mpho Chabatsane are walking a suspension tightrope for the upcoming Soweto Derby ahead of their home clash against AmaZulu.

Sibisi picked up his third yellow booking of the campaign in the 6-0 thrashing of TS Galaxy while De Jong was booked three times at former club Stellenbosch FC.

Chabatsane is yet to get booked in Pirates colours but carried over the three bookings he recieved while still at Marumo Gallants over to his new employers.

Another player who sits on three yellow cards is defensive midfielder Sihle Nduli though he is unlikely to feature this season for the Buccaneers having sustained a long-term injury with just five matches left after the AmaZulu tie.
