Mofokeng is a senior member of the Bafana Bafana squad despite his tender age. He is expected to be deployed in the No.10 role when South Africa compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Hugo Broos’ men have been placed in Group A alongside Mexico, South Korea, and the Czech Republic.

According to Bucs defender Thabiso Lebitso, Mofokeng has not allowed his status in South African football to get into his head. He is ready to listen and apply what he has been advised on the pitch.

“Firstly, I would say in South Africa most of the time when you see a player like that, after two or three seasons you’d see the difference [in behaviour] because when you are a youngster, obviously people will start to know you,” Lebitso said as quoted by FARPost.

“The whole of South Africa will start to know you, and you become big-headed and stuff, but speaking about Rele, no chance.

“He’s always humble, always makes sure that he works hard. Looking at the level that he is in, you’d expect him not to listen, but if you tell him something, he will listen; that’s why he’s doing all the wonders that he’s doing,” he concluded.
