Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou seems to be carving out a place among legendary figures at the club given his team’s brilliant league run.
Pirates beat Polokwane City 1-0 on Wednesday evening to make it six straight league wins and they are now the form team in the PSL.
What has been outstanding for Ouaddou’s team is that they have been winning without conceding, having started their brilliant run with a 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC, followed by another 1-0 before a 3-2 victory over Orbit College and Chippa United respectively.
What record has the Orlando Pirates coach set?

They would follow it up with a 1-0 win over Siwelele FC before beating TS Galaxy 2-0 followed by Wednesday’s triumph against Polokwane.
It is a run that has seen Pirates move to 18 points on the PSL table, three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and still with two games in hand over the Brazilians.
That run therefore makes Ouaddou the fifth Pirates coach to win six league games in a row after Roy Barreto, Ruud Krol, Joseph Zinnbauer and Jose Riveiro.
However, what separates him from the rest is that he is the first to do so while keeping a clean sheet in all matches.

That is a special club to be in given the above-named coaches are considered legendary figures at the club having brought success to the Soweto giants.
Krol and Zinnbauer won the PSL while Riveiro brought in five trophies in three years before Ouddou replaced him and the Moroccan coach is looking to emulate then and perhaps do even better.
Ouaddou has already won one trophy at Pirates, having claimed the MTN8, and is still challenging for the Carling Knockout, PSL, CAF Champions League while he will hope to do well in the Nedbank Cup as well.
