Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau is expected in Qatar on Thursday to begin the process of finalising his transfer to Qatar SC, according to multiple reports.

Tau was reported to have reached an agreement with Egyptian giants Al Ahly over a contract termination and he is now on his way to Doha where he will undergo a medical before signing his contract with Qatar SC.

The winger had fallen out of favour at Al Ahly since the second half of last season and was used sparingly as the club sought to release him and create room for further additions to the squad.

Now with that sorted and the player set to receive a compensation, commensurate to the six months that were remaining on his deal, Qatar SC have moved with speed to complete the deal amid interest from other clubs, which include Kaizer Chiefs.

Will Tau be a success in Qatar?

As per Qatari outlet Al Arab, Tau is expected in Doha on Thursday, accompanied by his agent Mmatsatsi Sefalafala who has secured an entry visa to Qatar for him with a medical planned next week after which he will complete the formalities of his transfer.

The player is reported to have bid his teammates farewell on Wednesday ahead of his departure.

Tau has won 11 trophies, including two Champions League and as many league titles, having scored 30 goals and provided 14 assists, in 125 games across all competitions since joining Al Ahly in January 2021.
