Pirates get serious warning from Marumo Gallants after Nedbank Cup semis draw

Orlando Pirates have received a serious warning from Marumo Gallants coach Abdeslam Ouaddou after the two were drawn in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

The French-Moroccan coach was speaking after defeating Durban City 4-1 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in 120 minutes.

Ouaddou pointed to their recent 2-0 league victory over Pirates, noting their ability to upset strong opponents.

He confessed, however, that they were disappointed to play their next match at Orlando Stadium, preferring to host Pirates in Bloemfontein.

OUADDOU REACTS TO PIRATES DRAW IN NEDBANK CUP

“I think my players were disappointed, not about the draw, not because we were drawn against Pirates but they wanted to play at home,” said Ouaddou.

“That’s why they were disappointed. But there’s no easy games. We will play outside [away from home].

“We will try to make a surprise again or to surprise people again.”

Gallants gaffer asserted that they will give the Soweto giants a hard time and vowed stopping them from winning three-peat with Pirates having hoisted the Nedbank Cup title twice in the past two seasons.

‘WE WILL GIVE THEM HARD TIME’

“I’d like to stop them [from winning three-peat],” he added.

“But this is football. I can promise you that we will prepare well and try to give a very good show for the fans most importantly.

“We will try to go and win that game because when you play or reach the semifinals, the goal is to go to the final.

“We will give everything and give them hard time as well.”
