Pitso leaving Iran already? UAE club in for Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane may have just joined Iranian club Esteghlal in October but he is already being wooed elsewhere following reports that United Arab Emirates side Sharjah FC are interested in him.

Mosimane returned to the Middle East to join Esteghlal following a short stint in Saudi Arabia and has been busy at work trying to revive the fortunes of the team.

However, reports now claim that he might not last long in Iran if he agrees to switch to the UAE given the interest from Sharjah who, unlike Esteghlal, are top of the table.

It is not clear if ‘Jingles’ would be willing to leave midway through a new project but Soccer Laduma reports that there is confidence within the UAE club’s camp that they can lure him away from Iran.

Mosimane returned to the Gulf after his stints with Al Ahli Jeddah and Abha, both of Saudi, as well as Al Wahda in the UAE, where he had mixed fortunes.

He is best remembered for returning Al Ahli Jeddah to the Saudi Arabia Pro League when they won the second division to make it back to the top flight in 2022-23 before he left after which he went to the UAE to coach Al Wahda.

He returned to Saudi in the second half of last season to take over relegation-fighting Abha but did not manage to keep them up.

There are also reports that Egyptian giants Zamalek are considering Mosimane to take over having watched the coach’s two-year reign at Al Ahly that yielded two CAF Champions League crowns.

At Esteghlal, Mosimane has endured a tough start, losing his first three games, but he has since started turning around their fortunes.

In his 10 matches in charge, Esteghlal have won three, drawn as many while losing four but he is unbeaten in his last six.
