Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has broken his silence over the recent interest in him from Ghana.
Mosimane was among names linked to the Ghana national team job following the sacking of Otto Addo last month before they settled on well-travelled Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, who is set to guide them at the 2026 World Cup.
The former Al Ahly coach admits there was interest but the talks were not concrete although he maintains that he would not have taken the job anyway if he was only going to be there for the World Cup.
“I guess, there was a little bit of talk, when I asked the office, they said there was a talk,” Mosimane told Robert Marawa on MSW on the interest from Ghana as per iDiski Times.

“Sometimes are like, maybe we just want to have three names and we find out who we want out of the three. If you want Carlos Queiroz, you’re going to pay top dollar.
“But there was never concrete talks. Concrete is when the letter comes to say we would like to have you and can we have a conversation over this.
“A call from a Ghana official, for me is not a really serious talk. And also do I really want to go to [the World Cup] for two months – three games? Maybe I don’t want that. Maybe Carlos said why not? Let me go have fun.”
Mosimane, who has admitted that he habours interest in the Bafana Bafana job, also revealed that he has rejected several other coaching opportunities from North Africa.

“There’s always talks, there was talks in Algeria, there’s talks in Egypt, there’s talks in Tunisia,” he added. “There are some talking to us about Libya national team. But do I really want to go there? I don’t know.”
“Sometimes if you look at what happened to Rulani [Mokwena] and the ex-coach of Galaxy [Sead Ramovic], reading those stories,” he went on why he is hesitant to take up a job in Algeria.
“I’m 61, sometimes I don’t need adventure, sometimes I just want proper things and right stuff. There’s also talks in UAE, trust me there’s always talks,” Mosimane further stated.
Mosimane has been without a job since leaving Iranian club Esteghlal FC in January 2025 and has been linked to several roles, including his ex-club Sundowns as well as Kaizer Chiefs, and it remains to be seen where he will end up next.
