Kaizer Chiefs produced a composed second-half display to overcome a feisty Orbit College side 3-1 in Gqeberha on Monday afternoon.
Three second-half goals completed a turnaround that keeps their top-three ambitions firmly alive.
The Soweto giants entered the contest on the back of successive wins over Durban City and Magesi FC, with back-to-back clean sheets underlining their defensive solidity ahead of the trip to the Eastern Cape.

Orbit College, meanwhile, arrived desperately short of points at the foot of the table and needed a result.
ORBIT COLLEGE FC
Cyril Chibwe — 6/10 The goalkeeper made a handful of routine stops and could not be faulted for Duba’s equaliser or Ndlovu’s long-range effort. He was left exposed for the third goal as the defence around him collapsed.
N. Vilakazi — 5.5/10 Struggled to contain the movement of Chiefs’ forwards down his side. Beaten too easily at key moments and offered little going forward to compensate.
Mphahlele — 5.5/10 Looked uncomfortable under the sustained pressure Chiefs applied after the hour-mark. Part of a backline that conceded twice in ten minutes without offering meaningful resistance.
Onyango — 5.5/10 Caught out of position for Wandile Duba’s equaliser and unable to recover. The central defensive unit as a whole was found wanting when Amakhosi turned up the intensity.
Thulani Jingana — 6/10 One of Orbit’s more composed defensive performers on the night. Dealt reasonably well with what was asked of him before being withdrawn late on.
Motshwari — 6/10 Showed neat touches in possession during the first half but faded significantly after the interval as Chiefs’ midfield began to dominate territory and tempo.
Relebogile Potsana — 6/10 Tidy and disciplined without ever threatening to change the game. Offered Orbit stability in central areas but nothing in the way of creativity or forward thrust.
Lehlohonolo Lesako — 6/10 Played a part in the build-up to Wagaba’s opener and showed some initiative early on. A yellow card on 38 minutes blunted his impact, and he was among the four players replaced in the final minutes.
S. Mabele — 5.5/10 A frustrating performance that ended with a yellow card deep in stoppage time. Offered little after the break and was one of the first passengers as Orbit’s resistance crumbled.
Thabang Mahlangu — 7/10 The debutant was Orbit’s most exciting player on the night. He turned sharply outside the box in the sixth minute and rattled the foot of the post, and he remained energetic and direct throughout. A bright start to what could be a promising career at this level.
Mbulelo Wagaba — 7.5/10 Orbit’s best performer. He headed home the opening goal at the back post and was a persistent thorn in the Chiefs defence for long stretches of the first half. His replacement at 87 minutes was a sign of how much Orbit missed him when he faded.

KAIZER CHIEFS
Bruce Bvuma — 5/10 A difficult afternoon for the skipper. His handling was directly at fault for Wagaba’s opener, which sailed through his hands and into the net. A yellow card for time-wasting at 75 minutes added to an unhappy evening between the sticks.
Bradley Cross — 7.5/10 The left-back was one of Chiefs’ most reliable performers from first minute to last. His teasing delivery into the box on 42 minutes was the catalyst for Duba’s equaliser. Defensively composed throughout.
Aden McCarthy — 6.5/10 An early yellow card on 24 minutes put him in a difficult position, but he managed himself well thereafter. Solid in his defensive duties and won the majority of his aerial duels.
Given Msimango — 7/10 A dependable stand-in for the suspended Inacio Miguel. He won his battles, read the game well, and gave nothing away cheaply. A quietly convincing performance.
Thabiso Monyane — 6/10 Adequate without being convincing in the first half. He was one of three players replaced at the hour-mark as Khalil Ben Youssef looked to shift the momentum in Chiefs’ favour.
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo — 6/10 Never imposed himself on the game the way that was needed. His replacement at 61 minutes with the tie still level was a clear message from the coaching staff.
Lebohang Maboe — 7/10 His contribution grew as the match wore on. Maboe did the unglamorous work that allowed Chiefs’ attacking players to function, and he was a key reason why Orbit’s second-half attacks came to nothing.
Mduduzi Shabalala — 8.5/10 The standout performer on the pitch. He stayed sharp, held the ball well in tight spaces, and scored the goal that broke Orbit’s resistance at 68 minutes with a smart right-footed finish from close range. A match-winner.
Makabi Lilepo — 6.5/10 Lively in wide areas and caused Orbit’s full-backs problems in the first half. His influence waned as the game progressed and he was replaced at 81 minutes.
Pule Mmodi — 6/10 Struggled to get involved in the game. He was one of three changes made at the hour-mark after a performance that offered little in the way of creativity or end product.
Wandile Duba — 7.5/10 Scored the vital equaliser four minutes before half-time, attacking Bradley Cross’s delivery with conviction and beating Chibwe cleanly. His movement and work rate kept the Orbit defence occupied even when he was not directly involved. Replaced at 69 minutes.

Kaizer Chiefs: Substitutes
Siphesihle Ndlovu (on 61′) — 7.5/10 Came on with the tie still level and made an immediate impression. His long-range strike on 78 minutes sealed the three points and put the result beyond any doubt.
Flávio Silva (on 61′) — 7/10 Added urgency and technical quality after coming on. He was involved in the build-up to Ndlovu’s third goal and gave Chiefs an extra dimension going forward.
Mfundo Vilakazi (on 69′) — 6.5/10 Helped consolidate the lead and ensured Orbit had no way back into the game in the final stages.
Man of the Match: Mduduzi Shabalala
