Sead Ramovic lands new African club after TS Galaxy exit

Sead Ramovic has been unveiled as the new coach of Tanzanian champions Yanga days after leaving TS Galaxy.

Ramovic, who resigned live on TV following Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch FC last month, was confirmed as the new man in the dugout just hours after Yanga sacked veteran Argentine tactician Miguel Angel Gamondi on Friday.

Yanga parted ways with Gamondi who has been in charge for the last one-and-a-half years, leading them to the Premier League title, after replacing Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi in 2023.

His sacking came after back-to-back league losses that left Yanga second on the league table with 24 points from 10 matches, just one behind bitter rivals Simba, who are enjoying a good run under South African tactician Fadlu Davids.

Yanga have now turned to Ramovic to change their fortunes and the German-born Bosnian has a big job on his hands as he begins a new chapter after three years at Galaxy.

His appointment was, however, met by surprise among fans in South Africa after he stated that he was going to spend time with his family during his resignation.

“I’d like to say that from now, I’ll resign, I’m not anymore the head coach of this club,” he said during the interview on SuperSport TV.

“To spend time with my family, (I’ve spent) a lot of energy in the last three years,” he added.

Yanga lost 1-0 to Azam FC before an embarrassing 3-1 defeat to league minnows Tabora United which led to Gamondi’s sacking but they are still in a great position to challenge Davids’ Simba for the title while they are also set to compete in the CAF Champions League group stages.
