Legendary Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile was on target as his team beat Magesi FC 2-0 at the Seshego Stadium on Wednesday night.
Masandawana scored their first goal through Jayden Adams before the 31-year-old converted Tashreeq Matthews' pass to make it 2-0 and help the defending Premier Soccer League champions collect their second top-tier win from three outings.
It was a special goal for the Namibia striker since he equalled a long-standing record of 129 goals scored by Siyabonga Nomvethe, and remains optimistic of getting 24 goals more in the 2025/26 season.
From his statements, it seems the experienced attacker will not be leaving the club after all.
‘Many more goals will come'
“To be honest, I just want to thank my teammates; for us, it’s just coming into the game and scoring goals. But I believe many more goals will come,” he opened up after the win over Dikwena Tsa Meetse.
“I’m looking forward to the new season, my first start. I don’t want to mention more things about the top goal scorer because I know it’s going to end very well this year. To score many more goals, I believe that many goals will come, I just need to get my confidence back; 25 goals, with God by my side, it’s possible,” Shalulile concluded.
The Brazilians' next stop will be at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, where they will play Orlando Pirates in the second leg of the MTN8. The last meeting at Orlando Stadium ended 1-1, giving Masandawana a slight advantage.
They will then focus on the Premier Soccer League outing against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium. The Soweto giants are currently top of the table after winning their opening three matches.
