Stellenbosch have confirmed that their PSL match against Kaizer Chiefs will be played in front of a sold-out stadium.
Stellies will host Chiefs at the Athlone Stadium in their 2025-26 league opener on Sunday and the facility will be full as they go in search of three points.
The club confirmed that fans have snapped up tickets for the crucial encounter which will see Steve Barker’s men take on Amakhosi as they look for three points on home turf.
“Tickets for Sunday's #BetwayPrem encounter against @KaizerChiefs have been sold out. Strictly no tickets will be sold at the gate, and supporters are encouraged to arrive early to avoid congestion in and around the stadium,” the club announced.
What are Kaizer Chiefs targeting this season?
Stellies have hugely benefited from the big following of Chiefs with matches involving the Glamour Boys always attracting many supporters both home and away.
Meanwhile, Chiefs forward Ashley Du Preez feels their pre-season has given them confidence that they can go on and win the league even if few are giving them a chance.
“I think this year, we can compete for everything, the league and cup games. We just have to be from day one 100 per cent sure that we can compete and win the league,” said the former Stellenbosch star.
“The pre-season games we played in the Netherlands were amazing. We learnt a lot from them and I think we can take that to the league. The way we played and competed with teams in the Netherlands was a good pre-season.
Du Preez looking to maintain scoring record
“As a team, we look good together, in camp we have the same energy and same mindset. We know what we want to achieve this season so we can take the pre-season into the league and play every game on the highest level and compete.”
Du Preez, who has scored three goals against his former team in the past, is hoping to make it four or more on Sunday as the new season begins.

“It is always good playing against them, I played for them, they helped me to get where I am today so it is always nice to have a game against Stellenbosch,” added the 28-year-old.
“Going to Cape Town, I am familiar with the weather with everything in Cape Town so I will always be excited. I would like to start with a goal and assist against Stellenbosch.”
Chiefs have a formidable record against Stellenbosch as they have beaten them in four of their last five meetings, including both home and away last season.
